Automated Export System (AES) filing is required for certain US exports. OnFlyGo helps identify when this is needed.
When AES/EEI is Required:
- Single item valued over $2,500
- Total shipment to same consignee over $2,500 in 24 hours
- Items requiring export license (regardless of value)
- Items on Commerce Control List (CCL)
- Shipments to certain countries (sanctions)
Exemptions (When NOT Required):
- Personal effects valued under $2,500
- Shipments to Canada (most items)
- Temporary exports returning within 1 year
- Diplomatic pouches
Information Needed:
- USPPI (US Principal Party in Interest) - the exporter
- EIN or SSN of exporter
- Ultimate consignee details
- Commodity classification (Schedule B/HS code)
- Value and quantity
- License information (if applicable)
The ITN (Internal Transaction Number):
- Proof of AES filing
- Format: X20231215123456
- Must be on shipping documents
- Required before export for most shipments
