OBC shipments clear customs as accompanied baggage, which is faster than cargo but still requires proper documentation.

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Before Departure:

    • Prepare commercial invoice
    • File AES if required (US exports >$2,500)
    • Pack items with documentation accessible
    • Know value and HS codes
  2. At Origin Airport:

    • Items go through security screening
    • May be inspected at gate
    • Keep documents in carry-on
  3. During Flight:

    • Items in your custody
    • Fill out customs declaration form (given on plane)
  4. At Destination:

    • Go through "Goods to Declare" lane (NOT "Nothing to Declare")
    • Present commercial invoice and documents
    • Customs officer assesses duties/taxes
    • Pay if required (credit card usually accepted)
    • Get stamp/entry number
  5. After Clearance:

    • Record entry number in OnFlyGo
    • Keep all stamped documents
    • Proceed to delivery
